Today I let my friend borrow my Xbox. He returned it today and when I turned it on 2 red lights appeared on my console. This means that there was an internal error and it's called the Ring of Death. My warranty expired so I guess I'm going to have to buy a new one. I won't be online for a few days because I don't have the money to buy a new one so I won't be online for a while. Also, I don't blame my friend for this, I guess he's just unlucky because my Xbox is like 3 years old and this is very common with Xbox 360 consoles.

it's a huge problem, i got the same one. Google it, there are ways to fix it yourself and it will work for a bit more. It's not too expensive to fix it in a shop either. I fixed myself ones, it worked for three for months, then happened again, then i fixed it in a shop (50 euros), it worked for another 4-5 months and when it happened again i threw it all together in the rubbish and bought a ps3. I'm happy now :)

Yeah, Red Ring of Death is really common.
Like To Tipota said there are ways to fix it temporarily, but you're better of bying a new one if you get the money.

3 years old consoles shouldn't break like that... My 1994 Super NES still works :/

I definitely Lol'd at Alnair's comment... but it's true.. xD hell even my atari 2600 still works like a charm.. .__.; though tv's are going to make it obsolete...

Sorry about the red ring.

The new ones are pretty slick, they redesigned the console for subsequent releases that should prevent this issue. They are manufactured with a smaller manufacturing technology, so they should produce less heat.
